Single-Dose Pediatric Sedation (1 day)
Serve a rapidly expanding segment of the population
Rapid population growth combined with an explosion in the caries rate means that dentists will treat an increasing number of children and teens. Their dental fears may be common, but their needs are unique. We'll show you how to treat this growing and complex demographic with less stress to you and your staff.
When you enroll in the Single-Dose Pediatric Sedation course, you'll experience the following benefits:
- Safe and effective methods – Discover clinically-tested oral sedation techniques
- Targeted training – Address the specific needs of your pediatric patients and your practice with a how-to workbook
- Expert faculty – Learn from renowned clinicians with years of practical experience
- Fulfill CE requirements – Complete eight hours of CE (or add the 2-day course to earn 24 CE credits*)
Same fears, smaller patients
Many of our youth have the same dental fears as adults(116). Yet children aren't just small adults. They have different emotional needs and wants (psychology) as well as different physical needs and characteristics (anatomy, physiology, pharmacology(124)). Consequently, sedation protocols for youth differ from those for adults.
Anxiety, gagging problems, behavior burn-out from multiple dental visits, loss of school time, loss of parent work time, and travel expenses are all factors in why oral conscious sedation is becoming popular with both dentists and parents.
Parents want convenience, comfort, quality and affordability for themselves and their children. They don't want multiple, emotionally draining visits when one comfortable sedation appointment is often enough to complete treatment.
Using single-dose minimal oral conscious sedation in conjunction with nitrous oxide/oxygen inhalation analgesia is a proven safe and effective technique for children and teens(67, 119). Its popularity and positive results in dental practice surveys attest to this.
