Anthony Feck
Dr. Anthony S. Feck graduated with high distinction from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry where he received numerous awards for scholastic excellence. Soon after his graduation in 1983, Dr. Feck was appointed Associate Professor of Periodontics and Restorative Dentistry at his alma mater. He has been in private practice in Lexington, Kentucky since completing his education.
As an established clinician, mentor, author, educator, and speaker, Dr. Feck’s passions include practice building, dental technology, pharmacology, and sedation dentistry. Seeking a way to treat the startling number of people with dental phobia, fear, and anxiety, Dr. Feck co-founded the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation, now known as DOCS Education, with Dr. Michael Silverman in 1999. As the Dean of Faculty, he has played a major role in DOCS Education’s growth as a leading provider of dental continuing education. Dr. Feck has also served as a consultant in the development of many new dental innovations.
An engaging international lecturer, Dr. Feck has been a featured speaker throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe. His well-known teaching and lecturing style blends humor with contagious passion. He’s presented at local and state dental associations, as well as the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, and been a featured speaker at MasterPlan Alliance retreats. Furthermore, he helped develop the “Leadership Challenge,” a series of courses designed to teach leadership principles to dentists.
Additionally, his videotaped lectures, “Common Applications of the Intraoral Camera” and “Effective Utilization of the Intraoral Video Camera” are the most widely used tapes on the subject.
A passion for excellence and a strong business background lead Dr. Feck to found Sunrise Dental Solutions (SDS) in 2007, a business solutions and consulting firm that helps manage some of the most successful dental practices in North America. He has developed several models to assist dentists in their professional growth including “The Ultimate Team” series, “Own Your Market,” and “Solution Yes.”
Dr. Feck is a member of the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, Academy of Osseointegration, and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, as well as a charter member of the Crown Council. He has been published in several dental trade publications including AGD Impact, Dental Products Report, and Dental Economics.
Those who have met Dr. Feck know that his love of dentistry radiates through everything he does, from lecturing on oral sedation dentistry to teaching dentists how to better manage their practices. Dr. Feck resides in Lexington, Kentucky, with his wife Rebecca and enjoys boating, reading, scuba-diving, and golfing.
Michael Silverman DMD President and Cofounder DOCS
International Lecturer
Dr. Michael D. Silverman is a globally-recognized dental innovator, educator, author, and advocate for patients’ rights. He has changed the way thousands of dentists practice and continues to impact dentistry as a champion of safe and effective oral and IV sedation.
As a general dentist with over 24 years of experience, Dr. Silverman first began taking advanced courses in anesthesia and sedation after noticing how many of his patients exhibited dental fear and anxiety. Utilizing his training, he then began developing safe and effective oral sedation dentistry techniques and protocols. Seeing the tremendously positive impact sedation treatments had on his patients—and the incredible need throughout the U.S., he joined forces with Dr. Anthony S. Feck to found the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation, now DOCS Education, in 1999.
With the help of sedation dentistry, Dr. Silverman has restored the dental health of more than 2,750 high-anxiety, high-fear patients. As a faculty member and the President of DOCS Education, he has taught thousands of dentists and their teams how to safely implement sedation into their own practices.
A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine and a passionate believer in lifelong Continuing Education (CE), Dr. Silverman has attended more than 850 hours of postdoctoral training and CE between 1985 and 2009. He also completed a mini-residency in IV sedation at Montefiore Hospital in Bronx, NY.
Dr. Silverman lectures across the country on the methods, techniques, and power of sedation dentistry. He has presented at conferences for the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, Yankee Dental Congress, International Congress of Oral Implantologists, American Association of Endodontists, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, and many others.
Additionally, Dr. Silverman serves as a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and as a Diplomat of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. He has been awarded a lifetime membership in the Crown Council.
His expertise on oral conscious sedation has been sought by over a dozen state dental boards. His works are published in Dental Economics, Woman Dentist Journal, Alpha Omegan, International Magazine of Oral Implantology, Dentistry Today, Dear Doctor, and the Journal of Cosmetic Dentistry, among others.
Dr. Silverman’s extensive dental background and entrepreneurial spirit led to the development of two additional dental-focused companies: RAMP, the world’s largest full-service dental advertising agency, and b2d Marketing, a rapidly growing dental and medical marketing company. He currently serves as the President of both organizations.
Dr. Silverman resides in Seattle, WA, where he enjoys spending time with his family. He is an avid outdoorsman with interests in rock climbing, hiking, bicycling, fishing, and skiing.
Dr. Leslie Shu-Tung Fang is a world-renowned physician, educator, businessman, and speaker. Board certified in both Nephrology and Internal Medicine, Dr. Fang received his PhD in Physiology and Biophysics from the University of Illinois and his Doctorate of Medicine from Harvard Medical School. He completed his residency training at Massachusetts General Hospital where he served as Chief Medical Resident. He also completed fellowship training in Internal Medicine and Nephrology. At Massachusetts General Hospital, Dr. Fang served as Chief of the Walter Bauer Firm and Clinical Director of the Governing Board of the Medical Services Associates. He has been repeatedly honored as one of “America’s Top Doctors” and “The Best Doctors of Boston.”
While maintaining an active practice in internal medicine and nephrology in Boston, Dr. Fang also serves as a lead instructor at Harvard Medical School. He has received numerous awards for excellence in teaching and chairs the Medical Internship Selection Committee at Massachusetts General Hospital which helps build relationships between medical students and the hospital.
As an active businessman, Dr. Fang’s associations include: FerruMax, Protocare, Catalyst, Exit Strategy, Physician Dynamics, MEDAcorp, Biolink, Alphaport, Channel Three, LVI Global, and SpectraMed among many others.
Widely respected in the medical, dental, and academic communities, Dr. Fang is frequently a featured speaker at medical and dental conferences. He has authored several medical texts, teaching series, and reference manuals, including Oral Medicine Secrets and two editions of Principles and Practice of Oral Medicine. His co-authored interactive DVD from the EndoMagic Interactive Teaching Series, Antibiotics in Dentistry, has received significant acclaim. Other award-winning works include Ultimate Cheat Sheets: Practical Guide for the Dentist, The Ultimate Basic Drug Kit, and The Ultimate Advanced Drug Kit for Medical Emergencies in the Dental Office, which was named Educational Product of the Year by Clinicians Report™ in 2007 and 2008. Dr. Fang also was named in the “Top 100 Clinicians in Continuing Education” by Dentistry Today in 2008.
As a faculty member of DOCS Education, Dr. Fang plays an integral role in bridging the gap between the dental and medical professions. He serves as an instructor for a variety of courses including Oral Sedation Dentistry, Sedation Solutions, Pediatric Sedation Dentistry, and IV Sedation Update: Continuing Certification.
Dr. Roger Sanger, DOCS Education’s Pediatric Sedation Dentistry lead instructor, is a graduate of the University of Southern California (USC) School of Dentistry. He completed a residency in pediatric dentistry as well as a fellowship in rehabilitation and received a Masters in Health Care from USC Medical Center and Hospitals prior to entering private practice. A lifelong educator, Dr. Sanger has served as an attending faculty member at USC Children’s Hospital and the University of Colorado Medical Center. In private practice for over 27 years, he went on to found a multi-doctor, multi-office children’s dental group serving six counties on the central coast of California. The group was a leader in establishing two children’s dental surgicenters that treat over 5,000 cases of pediatric oral sedation a year.
Dr. Sanger has personally completed over 10,000 pediatric cases over the course of his career. He has authored two clinical textbooks and numerous scientific articles, as well as a textbook on pediatric dental practice management. With fine attention to detail and a passion for writing, he has also been a contributing editor for Dentistry Today. Utilizing the safest drugs and latest technology, Dr. Sanger believes that pediatric oral conscious sedation can allow dental practices to offer comprehensive care to anxious and unmanageable children while simultaneously reducing parental anxiety and increasing practice success.
His warm and open teaching style coupled with his vast experience and passion for treating children enables Dr. Sanger to easily impart his knowledge to those he teaches.
John Bovia ACLS Faculty
John has 30 years of experience in emergency medical services dating back to the US military. He was also one of the first paramedics to be licensed in the state of Michigan in the late seventies.
He is the co-founder of Life Support Services, Inc. and has been recognized over those years as an outstanding instructor for the American Heart Association (AHA) having trained over 200,000 health care providers including nurses, EMTs, physicians and dentists.
At this time, he instructs the courses for DOCS while running one of the largest training centers for the AHA to train health care providers and instruct other trainers on the topic of resuscitation.
April Burus Team Trainer
April Burus is an outstanding lecturer who brings many successful years of experience to team training. In addition to her many years as a medical response team member and office manager, Ms. Burus is a seasoned professional with over fifteen years in the dental industry.
Ms. Burus has spent the majority of the past decade working in her hometown of Lexington, KY, with Dr. Anthony Feck, Dean of Faculty for DOCS Education, sedation patients, and team members every day. Her hands-on and collaborative management style creates a comfortable and efficient working environment that benefits patients and co-workers alike.
As the Team Trainer for DOCS Education, Ms. Burus teaches course attendees the finely tuned communication skills necessary for success. Motivated by a deep-rooted passion for sedation dentistry care, her effective techniques translate directly into positive results for all who participate. As she tells her students: “It is my passion for sedation that gets me up every morning at 4:30 AM.”
Michael Mermigas DDS
Dr. Michael E. Mermigas began his education at the Duquesne University Mylan School of Pharmacy where he received his registered pharmacist’s degree. He went on to attend the West Virginia University School of Dentistry where he earned his DDS. He completed his residency in Hospital Dentistry at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Pittsburgh, PA, and an externship in Oral Implantology at the Midwest Implant Institute in Columbus, OH.
On top of his broad academic background, Dr. Mermigas spent 15 years as an EMT/firefighter facing emergency situations on a daily basis. His time handling pre-hospital trauma, cardiac emergencies, and other life-threatening emergencies provided him with vast experience in medicine and emergency preparedness.
In addition to serving as a faculty member and the Course Director for DOCS Education’s IV Sedation for Dentistry program, Dr. Mermigas is also the Director of Duquesne University’s Center for Continuing Dental Education. He is a veteran Assistant Professor of Pharmacology-Toxicology at the Duquesne Mylan School of Pharmacy and teaches several undergraduate and graduate courses on pharmacology and pathology. Furthermore, he is a faculty member of the West Liberty College Dental Hygiene Program where he teaches courses in pharmacology, pain control, and anesthesia.
Dr. Mermigas has lectured extensively in the areas of pharmacology, anesthesia, pain control, microbiology, and dental management of medically compromised patients. He maintains a private implant and general dentistry practice in Monessen, Pennsylvania, offering both oral and IV sedation treatment.
Peter Chiang DDS
Dr. Peter C.J. Chiang received his dental degree from the University of California at Los Angeles Medical Center where he also completed a residency in pediatric dentistry. His pediatric dental specialties include growth and development, prevention, education, and maintenance of children's dental health.
A passionate educator as well as a dedicated practitioner, Dr. Chiang serves as a pediatric dentistry lecturer at UCLA and is the managing partner of the Central Coast Pediatric Dental Group, a regional multi-office, multi-doctor pediatric dental group serving the dental needs of children and teenagers in the six counties comprising California’s central coast. The group is a pioneer for advancing orally administered sedative medication techniques as an adjunct to comprehensive care for children and teenagers with dental anxiety and fear.
Notably, Dr. Chiang designed the first children’s surgicenter in California.
He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, an active member of the Monterey Bay Dental Society, American Dental Association, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and the California Society of Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Chiang joins two of his Central Coast Pediatric Dental Group colleagues, Dr. Roger G. Sanger and Dr. Kenji B, Saisho, as a faculty member and instructor of DOCS Education’s Pediatric Sedation Dentistry course.
Kenji Saisho MD DDS
Dr. Kenji B. Saisho received his medical degree from the University of Health Sciences/Chicago Medical School in Chicago, IL and completed a residency in family medicine at UCLA Northridge Hospital. Prior to receiving a dental degree from the University of Pacific at San Francisco, he practiced family medicine in a large medical group for over 15 years. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine and keeps his medical education current. His diverse experience as both a physician and a dentist allows him to provide the highest level of comprehensive care for all of his patients.
Dr. Saisho now practices dentistry with the Central Coast Pediatric Dental Group, a regional multi-office, multi-doctor pediatric dental group serving the dental needs of children and teenagers in the six counties comprising California’s central coast. The group is a pioneer for advancing orally administered sedative medication techniques as an adjunct to comprehensive care for children and teenagers with dental anxiety and fear.

Born in Geneva, Switzerland, attorney Douglass S. Lodmell is an expert in estate planning, taxation and strategic asset protection for domestic and international clients.
