This “Abominable River Yeti” Always Surfaces Smiling

His real name is Ryan, but everyone calls him the “River Yeti.”

Ryan dives the rivers of America in search of booty. In just one weekend not long ago, the intrepid treasure hunter says he found seven lost diamond engagement rings, not to mention his regular takings of sunglasses, cell phones, car keys, watches, knives, coins, fishing lures, writing instruments, and lots of empty beer cans.

Among his more unusual finds have been a 1/2-ounce gold nugget, a baseball, a Thomas the Tank wooden train engine, a bottle of wine, and—yes—a toothbrush.

Whether he finds valuables or junk, whether the water is bone-chilling or tepid, Ryan always surfaces with a smile on his face—a bona fide treasure.
