Make it to 94 and you done good.

Make it to 94 with all your own teeth intact? You’re a record-breaker.

Which is precisely what Frank Medina of Stockton, CA has done.

According to Ripley’s Believe it or Not, Frank Medina is the “oldest man in the world with all his teeth who has never had a cavity."

To what does Mr. Medina attribute his dental success?

Eating hard breads and beans.

He claims he used to “work for a dollar a day” and has only “grammar school education—but you don't have to go to college or any no god-damn place if you got anything upstairs. I figure if that guys got enough to buy a dinner, I'm gonna make enough to make a sandwich."

Immaculate toothery is not Frank’s only claim to fame: He’s actually better known as the “King of the Windmills”—once owning hundreds and hundreds. His “Wonderful World of Windmills” was a popular tourist attraction for many years.

Has Mr. Medina’s perfect set of chompers earned him as much moola as his windmills? Sadly, no. He briefly tried to act as a spokesperson for Pepsodent (the toothpaste he says he has used all his life) but alas, after contacting a Madison Avenue talent agency, he was turned away.

As for his legacy, what about the test of all tests—The Guinness Book of World Records?

Mr. Medina would likely be immortalized between pages, but apparently the head honchos at Guinness don’t consider the feat of “world’s oldest cavity free teeth” worth printing.

(As dentists, we’ll have to politely agree to disagree.)
