Diners in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, and Florida know that, regardless of whether it’s warm or chilly outside, they’ll always find friendly smiles and delectable chili inside each Skyline Chili restaurant.

Founded in Cincinnati in 1949 by Greek immigrant Nicholas Lambrinides, the boutique chain is globally renowned for loading its plates of spaghetti, hot dogs, baked potatoes, and burritos with mounds of cheddar cheese and its propriety, original family-recipe homemade chili.

These two smiling chefs, serving up Skyline’s 5-Ways (steaming spaghetti, chili, cheese, diced onions, and beans) work for the outlet in Walton, Kentucky.

Thanks to Skyline Chili, and two of its well-known competitors, Cincinnati is widely considered “The Chili Capital of the World.” Delta Airlines’ Sky magazine reports that Cincinnatians consume more than two million pounds of chili annually, topped with 850,00 pounds of cheese.

Whether in Walton, Kentucky—which proudly boasts it was the first American city to elect a dog mayor (a Great Dane, Jiminia, in 1901—or in Santiago, Chile, founded in 541 by the Spanish conquistador Pedro de Valdivia, with a modern-day population surpassing 6.3 million—professional We Believe in Smiles™ photographers span the globe in search of radiant, life-affirming smiles.
