Figures released Tuesday by the U.S. Census Bureau point to a continued climb in the number of Americans living in poverty in 2010, or 46.2 million. That total represented the fourth consecutive increase and the largest reported by the government in 52 years. The Census report also indicated that 49.9 million people in the U.S. lacked health insurance last year. The findings are contained in the report Income, Poverty, and Health Insurance Coverage in the United States: 2010.
