Canadian sedation dentists received unwelcome news in December when manufacturers announced a backlog in orders for triazolam, a mainstay for those using DOCS Education advanced protocols. With availability of the drug delayed to March 2011 at the earliest, DOCS Education faculty sought to provide solutions and keep patients protected. “We have conducted many seminars in Canada and feel a responsibility to helping dentists and patients through this problematic period,” explains president Dr. Michael Silverman, DMD. Led by Dr. Silverman and DOCS Education general counsel John Bitting, the webinar was originally broadcast on January 6. The 90-minute program covered one of five advanced protocols taught as part of the company’s Sedation Solution course. An additional 30 minutes was spent answering questions. The session covered use of midezolam and hydroxyine and was only open to dentists who had already taken Sedation Solutions or Oral Sedation Dentistry within the previous two years.
