Course Description:

A trained, qualified team is the key to a successful sedation practice, but it can take time and money. This program seeks to remove barriers to training by creating an online component that qualifies for Section 1220 of IL Administrative Code, as well as an in-office training guide for the clinical hands-on training for offices with an IV trained dentist.

The clinical component must include practical training on airway management. Other skills that must be demonstrated include: manual blood pressure and pulse determination, operation of supplemental oxygen equipment, monitoring operations (including EKG, pulse oximeter and capnograph), and completion of the anesthesia record.

Online Clinical Component Objectives:

Gain an understanding of airway anatomy and emergency equipment
Learn to take and read blood pressure and pulse as well as the significance of the numbers
Know when to apply supplemental oxygen and identify the components of the equipment
Understand monitoring equipment and how to properly use your pulse oximeter
Recognize EKG and capnography equipment and readings
Identify and understand each component of the anesthesia record

How Does it Work?

Your team member will take six (6) qualifying hours of online clinical training. Then the employer IV trained doctor can follow the Illinois Dental Sedation Team In-Office Clinical Training Guide to fulfill the additional six (6) hours of hands-on training.

You must purchase for each team member. Retain the completed documents for your records.

Purchase of this course grants access for one year and requires an internet connection, computer with video and audio capabilities, and in some cases, Adobe Reader to view handouts and articles.
