Laryngospasm is a sudden laryngeal and glottic contracture that makes it difficult for a patient to speak or breathe.
During this 90-minute presentation, Allan Schwartz, DDS, CRNA and Sedation Consultant, will thoroughly review the anatomy of the airway and the protective mechanisms the human body has in place to safeguard the airway. After a triggering episode, the vocal cords can strongly spasm, and can partially or completely close off any efforts of inspiration and expiration.
