Course Description:

This is worth 1 CE.

Complications can and will arise from IV sedation. Will you be ready to handle unusual or unexpected situations safely and professionally, and achieve the best outcome? Thousands of cases have given DOCS Education the documentation and experience you can learn from to handle the unusual.

Dr. Anthony Feck covers local and systemic obstacles that may occur. You’ll learn to recognize the signs and symptoms of the problem, identify the cause, and manage the appropriate response. Dr. Feck will also discuss preventative measures to add to your safety guidelines.

From a non-running IV solution to infiltration and thrombophlebitis you’ll be able to prevent, adapt, and respond. You’ll be prepared to respond quickly and precisely to PONV, drug allergies, and laryngospasm.

Objectives:

  • Learn common interactions with IV agents
  • Learn the beneficial side effects of IV agents
  • Recognize common complications of venipuncture
  • Understand IV equipment failures (non-running IV solution)
  • Identify complications that occur based on patient profiles (age, etc.)
