A 12-year-old French boy was recently found walking the streets of St. Gervais, a village nearly 100 miles from his home.

He informed police he had been kidnapped from the nearby town of Bagnols while traveling to his dentist appointment, but had escaped unscathed.

After being pulled into and trapped in the kidnapper’s car, he had managed to open the door and run away when the vehicle came to a stop.

He described his abductor to the police with vivid detail: a muscular, tall man in his mid-30s with a vertical scar on his right cheek, dressed in a black shirt and jeans.

Beginning that day, and for the month that followed, police searched, fruitlessly, for said kidnapper.

The problem?

There was no kidnapper.

After failing to find any leads, the police re-questioned the boy after reviewing CCTV images taken in Bagnols.

He soon confessed – admitting he had staged his own kidnapping to get out of attending his dentist appointment. Of course, we at Incisor can't help but wonder if he would've been less tentative towards a sedation dentistry appointment.

Maybe the boy should still get points for creativity?
