Medical emergencies can and do happen in the dental environment. Approximately 75% of these can be prevented through physical evaluation of the prospective dental patient, using a systematic review of the patient’s medical history and recording of vital signs.
In addition to prevention and preparation, Dr. Stanley Malamed will cover the P-C-A-B-D protocol for medical emergencies in the dentist's office and address the most common occurring incidents, including respiratory distress, altered consciousness, drug allergy or overdose, chest pain, and cardiac arrest.

Local anesthetics are the most used drugs in dentistry and are considered the most effective for pain management and prevention. However, the “shot” is the most fear-inducing facet of the dental experience for most patients. An estimated 75% of all dental office medical emergencies are stress-related and therefore preventable.
In this course, Dr. Stanley Malamed shares beneficial information on the injection armamentarium and comprehensive patient evaluation, as well as relevant anatomy and all injection techniques. You will learn about the localized and systemic complications that can arise with local anesthesia, and how to prevent and manage them. The course will cover the facts and fiction of local anesthesia and take an in-depth look at the future of pain control in dentistry.

9 CE hours

Sedation dentistry is a dream scenario… until it isn't. 2 CE hours

Salivary diagnostics have been available in dentistry for some time. While adaptation has been slow, the more recent correlation between systemic disease and oral pathogens has made this information all the more compelling. Dr. Thomas Larkin demonstrates why it’s time to pivot from the restorative model of dentistry to more preventative protocols.
