Meharry Medical College in joint providership with the Washington AGD through its affiliation with DOCS Education has created a new 8-hour course* that fulfills the new one-time opioid course requirement for DEA registration. The course will cover a range of topics related to opioid prescribing and pain management required by the Medication Access and Training Expansion (MATE) Act, including the risks and benefits of opioids, safe pharmacological management of dental pain and screening, treating and management of patients with substance abuse disorders, patient counseling and education, and more. It is worth 8 CE.

This 8 hour CE course is delivered by John Dovgan, DDS, State Board investigator, and expert witness. How do dentists providing sedation services avoid malpractice claims? Two things. First, they educate themselves on the nuances and peculiarities of anesthetics. Second, they avoid common, but entirely preventable, mistakes. In this course, Dr. Dovgan, DDS explains how malpractice claims are processed. He also shows what to do to ensure one is not filed against you.
