Course Description:
This course consists of 3 modules. You’ll earn 4 CE credits upon completion.
Knowledge of the factors that cause complications and failure in fixed prosthodontics enhances our ability to develop effective treatment plans, facilitates success, promotes optimal doctor-patient communication regarding anticipated treatment outcomes, and provides early diagnosis of problems encountered during long-term maintenance.
In this comprehensive 3-part course, Dr. Goodacre will teach participants to identify the most common complications encountered with conventional single crowns in all materials, conventional fixed partial dentures, and resin-bonded prostheses. He will describe methods of minimizing or preventing their occurrence as well as managing these complications when they occur.
Clinical Complications with Metal-Ceramic and All-Metal Single Crowns and Fixed Partial Dentures
This module will cover strategies for caries prevention through diagnostic testing of risk factors as well as identifying the sources of pulpal stress associated with single crown procedures. Additional learning objectives include:
- Know the three key factors that prevent loss of retention
- Strategies that can be used to minimize or eliminate loss of retention
- Learn methods to increase resistance form when deficiencies are present
- The benefit of circumferential irregularities and where they’re best located
Clinical Complications with All-Ceramic Crowns
Part 2 will address the benefits and limitations of all-ceramic crowns compared with metal-ceramic crowns. You’ll learn to identify the most common complications associated with all-ceramic crowns. Additional objectives include:
- Identifying and mitigating the factors that increase the potential for crown fracture
- CAD/CAM all-ceramic crown materials
- Understanding the effect of gender on crown fracture
- Learn the impact of all-ceramic crowns on caries incidence and periodontal health
Clinical Complications with Resin-Bonded Prostheses
In order to optimize success with resin-bonded prostheses, it’s critical to understand the factors that cause complications and failure in fixed prosthodontics. The third module will cover the indications and limitations involved. Learning objectives include:
- Identifying the most common complications
- The diagnosis and treatment planning factors that affect debonding
- Addressing incidence of tooth discoloration, caries, and porcelain fractures
- Learning the tooth preparation features that reduce or eliminate complications
All sales are final.
