A few weeks ago we brought you a story of a DOCS Education member who had recently completed their Dental Advanced Life Support training and had it put to use outside an office setting by helping a woman at church who was experiencing tachycardia. It seems as though something was in the air with DALS® graduates, especially Dr. Danielle Slater, who sent us this story about a recent experience on a flight home from the DOCS Education seminar in San Diego.
Hello Jim and DOCS,
I was privileged enough to be at your DALS course yesterday in San Diego.
On the way back to my hometown, Boston, a woman dropped and vomited at the back of the plane. Before I knew it I was raising my hand in response to the question "Is there a doctor on the flight?". Immediately I used your radial pulse technique on the woman and get a sense of BP. Within a short time, following the procedures I was taught in the course, I was able to get her feeling well for the remainder of the flight. I wanted to say again how great the course was yesterday, and thank you for such valuable information!
Sincerely
Danielle Slater, DMD
From all of us here at DOCS Education and on behalf of John Bovia, lead instructor for DALS® and PALS, thank you Dr. Slater for your commitment to safety, your quick-thinking and ability to come to the assistance of someone in need.
We have really enjoyed being able to share these stories with you and would love to hear more. Feel free to email us with your story and maybe you’ll see it in the next issue of The Incisor.
