DALS trainers will customize a training plan specific to your office layout, personnel and resources in this 2-day in-office course. Instruction includes practical training to confidently use state-of-the-art AED equipment, managing a megacode emergency, hands-on experience using advanced airway management equipment and team drills. DALS In-office training is the best way to ensure every team member knows the drill when it comes to handling a medical emergency.

While medical emergencies are relatively rare in dentistry, statistics show that you will experience two or more incidents in your practice throughout your career. Therefore, being able to respond to such emergencies with knowledge and confidence is an essential skill for every dental professional and components of an emergency response dental team. 

This licensure renewal training will be presented by three esteemed DOCS faculty members: Dr. Steve Yun, a board-certified M.D. and Dental Anesthesiologist in Southern California; Dr. Jerry Wellbrock, a seasoned clinician with over 30 years of experience and Jim Bovia, Paramedic, who is also the instructor for DOCS’ ACLS certification training.

Review the essential components for an emergency kit in this course presented by DOCS Education and Jim Bovia, EMT-P. He will review the life-saving tools every dental practice needs on hand, as well as an overview of their use in an emergency. It is worth 1 CE.

Pain, fear, and anxiety can all affect cardiac rhythm. Jim Bovia, EMT-P will discuss the electrical system of the heart and how to identify a normal rhythm plus different irregular heart rates that could indicate a cardiac event. You will learn how to read a heart rhythm monitor, recognize the signs of a serious cardiac event, and identify the underlying causes of irregular heart rates. This course is worth .5 CE hours.

Medical emergencies in the dental setting are rare, but it’s vitally important to be prepared in the event of unforeseen occurrences. Learn the essential components of an emergency response dental team in this course presented by Jim Bovia, EMT-P. Jim Bovia will share a recording of an actual team training for a cardiac event, while explaining the six positions of a high-performance emergency team. Participants will review the different roles of dentist and team during an emergency and how to practice effective closed-loop communication. It is worth .5 CE.
