Meharry Medical College in joint providership with the Washington AGD through its affiliation with DOCS Education has created a new 8-hour course* that fulfills the new one-time opioid course requirement for DEA registration. The course will cover a range of topics related to opioid prescribing and pain management required by the Medication Access and Training Expansion (MATE) Act, including the risks and benefits of opioids, safe pharmacological management of dental pain and screening, treating and management of patients with substance abuse disorders, patient counseling and education, and more. It is worth 8 CE.

Learning how to identify whether a patient is a good candidate for oral sedation dentistry is one of the most basic and important steps in practicing safe and effective oral sedation. This course 2-hour CE course will help you build confidence in your patient assessment abilities.

2 CE hours

This is a 13-module video course. It contains 13.5 hours of lectures delivered by Dr. Leslie Fang in front of a live audience. Each module features a one-page summary for quick reference. The modules in the course can be purchased together in a bundle, or individually. This course supports both The Ultimate Cheat Sheets and the 3-CE online course The New ADA Policy on Opioid Prescriptions.

13.5 CE hours

Sedation dentists treat patients with a variety of diseases. Some of those medical issues, like asthma and diabetes, are commonplace and well-diagnosed. Others, like sleep apnea, are common but go largely undiagnosed. Special dental management is also required for cardiac patients on antiplatelet drug therapy. You’ll earn 4 CE credit in this 3-module course that addresses the treatment of those with compromised health.

4 CE hours

Presented by the world-renowned pharmacology and physiology expert Dr. Leslie S.T. Fang. This course teaches the responsibilities and requirements of prescribing Schedule II opioid drugs and includes the practices for pain management in dentistry, regulatory requirements for prescribers and dispensers, and dental office procedures for managing vulnerable or substance use disorder patients. It is worth 3 CE hours.
