The Dental Association of Manitoba requires a dentist complete a minimum of 40 hours of lecture and seminar time presented by dentists/dental specialists formally trained at the post-graduate level in anesthesia, supervised application of parenteral moderate sedation concurrent with dental treatment performed on a minimum of 20 individually managed patients, ACLS, and Manitoba Dental Registrar Registration, before administering Parenteral Sedation to their adult patients.

The Dental Association of Manitoba requires a dentist to successfully complete a minimum of 6 hours of didactic instruction specific to nitrous oxide in the last five years, perform 5 supervised cases of nitrous oxide sedation, and BLS, before administering Nitrous Oxide to their adult patients.

The Standard of Care Doctrine dictates that a practitioner should complete14 hours of nitrous education and earn a BLS certificate.
