Random and Weird National Holidays

Did you know there are over 365 "Holidays" in the United States? That's right. Everything from Squirrel Appreciation Day (January 21), Work Naked Day (February 3), and Tell a Lie Day (April 4), to Dance Like a Chicken Day (May 14), Ask a Stupid Question Day (September 20), and Count Your Buttons Day (October 21)

But my least favorite? Today's National Toothache Day (February 9).

I mean… c'mon. Toothaches are far from trivial, and we certainly should not be celebrating them. This "holiday" is just stupid, in my humble opinion.

Now, the credit for this weird and random holiday seems to be attributed to a dentist, though no one knows for sure. While I'm sure my (possible) colleague's original meaning behind the day is to remind people that toothaches are never fun, and therefore make sure to keep up with one's oral health… I think that is better served by National Smile Day (May 31) or (even better) World Oral Health Day (coming soon – March 20).

In the spirit of humor and diving into this rabbit hole of curiosities, don't miss National Poop Day on February 13. The day after the Super Bowl and the day before Valentine's Day, this "cheeky" holiday is yet another head-scratching and (I reiterate) stupid holiday (not) to observe.

What's your favorite (or least favorite) holiday?

This is meant for humor purposes, and my opinion doesn't reflect that of DOCS Education. However, you're welcome to dive into the full list of the weirdest "holidays" here.
