While medical emergencies are relatively rare in dentistry, statistics show that you will experience two or more incidents in your practice throughout your career. Therefore, being able to respond to such emergencies with knowledge and confidence is an essential skill for every dental professional.
This licensure renewal training is presented by Dr. Steve Yun, MD, anesthesiologist, and medical consultant for DOCS, Dr. Anthony Feck, Dean of Faculty for DOCS, and Jim Bovia, EMT-P.
Respectively, they will cover the proper use and rationale of emergency medications that should be available in every dental office, the basics of airway management, and the essential information needed to master this critical skill. Additionally, you’ll review basic life support skills, the life-saving tools every dental practice needs on hand, and the role of the entire team during a cardiac emergency.

The proper use of naloxone, albuterol, Benadryl, and nitroglycerin

Identify the one emergency medication that is most often neglected or ignored in dental offices

Learn the five key airway management techniques.

Identify the Mallampati classifications.

Learn how to protect the airways of sedated patients.

Review basic life support techniques including CPR and oxygen administration.

Identify the essential components of an office emergency kit.

Learn the importance of recordkeeping in an emergency.
