As Incisor reported earlier this year, our DOCS Education faculty has been dubbed ‘The Dental League’ by many of our course alumni because – like the fictional superheroes who join forces to serve humanity as the Justice League – our faculty members are in a stratum of their own when it comes to using their knowledge, experience, and teaching talents in service of the dental profession.
At our upcoming Sedation & Advanced Dentistry Conference in Chicago, our newest Dental League instructor, Allan Schwartz, DDS, CRNA, will don his professorial cape to share teaching responsibilities in several of our classrooms, including Advanced Sedation and IV Sedation Recertification.
Dr. Schwartz is an outstanding instructor who has been teaching anesthesia to dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants, certified registered nurse anesthetists, physicians, and nurses for more than a decade.
He currently provides anesthesia as a locum tenens CRNA at Christian Hospital in Saint Louis and is one of only two general dentists in the State of Missouri to possess a deep sedation/general anesthesia permit. Dr. Schwartz is also a clinical assistant professor in the department of Periodontics at Saint Louis University’s Center for Advanced Dental Education.
“Allan is the perfect addition to our national team of extraordinary instructors who teach what they practice,” notes Dr. Michael D. Silverman, president of DOCS Education.
Dr. Schwartz is a 1980 graduate of Baylor College of Dentistry and a 1994 graduate of Washington University School of Nurse Anesthesia.
His latest published journal article, Airway Management for the Oral Surgery Patient, appears in the May 2018 edition of Elsevier’s Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinics of North America, Volume 30, Issue 2.
