This course will prepare you and your team to make starting and IV comfortable for patient and practitioner—whether you are personally administering the IV, or having someone else guide the needle.

Dr. Anthony Feck delivers key points to consider before and during the establishment of venipuncture and line, including how to find the best site for optimal results, as well as methods for adapting to unusual circumstances of physiology.

Objectives:

  • Learn to adapt procedures for patient selection(278, 279, 280, 281, 282, 283)
  • Identify appropriate venipuncture site and navigate difficult insertions
  • Consider health history when delivering IV(657, 658, 659, 660, 661)
  • Learn to properly establish a venipuncture and line
