Nitrous Oxide Monitoring for New Hampshire Assistants

This online course qualifies for 6 hours of CE credit that is automatically issued with a digital certificate upon successful completion and a minimum exam score of 75%.

DOCS has provided Nitrous Oxide/Oxygen training to thousands of dentists and staff since 1999 and is proud to offer specialized monitoring training for New Hampshire dental assistants.

Presented by DOCS Education with Dr. Anthony Feck, Dr. Leslie Fang, and Jim Bovia, EMT-P, this comprehensive course will teach qualified dental assistants the techniques of N₂O monitoring, enabling them to safely maximize patient comfort and increase the practice’s productivity.

It includes six (6) hours of online didactic education required for monitoring nitrous oxide and allows the student to learn on their own schedule, with no travel required.

Course Objectives:

• Review the history of nitrous oxide and how it works.
• Review nitrous oxide administration techniques for predictable and effective results.
• Cover guidelines for patient monitoring and proper use of special equipment. 
• Understand pharmacology and pharmacokinetics of nitrous oxide.
• Discuss the potential misuse and abuse of nitrous oxide.
• Understand the anatomical structures involved in inhalation anxiolysis.
• Review relative contraindications to nitrous oxide use.
• Learn the importance of a medical history evaluation and how to identify red flags.
• Review risk assessment and ASA classifications for the sedation patient.
• Understand the essential components of an emergency response dental team.
• Learn about recordkeeping.

Part 1:

Dental assistants will complete six hours of online didactic training through DOCS Education, on their own schedule, at their home or office. A digital manual will be provided to accompany the course. Students must pass the final quiz with a 75% or greater grade.

Course participants will have unlimited electronic access to DOCS’ highly respected and experienced faculty members for questions regarding the course content. 

Part 2:

Once the assistant has completed the online portion of the course and passed the quiz, CE will be automatically issued with a digital certificate.

*DEN 302.06(x) Any traditional dental assistant shall be considered qualified to monitor the administration of nitrous oxide to patients after successfully completing a minimum 6 hour course in monitoring the administration of nitrous oxide.
